Communication Center
Team Members
Life Line Ambulance employs certified emergency
dispatch team members and conducts extensive training with them
before they go to work in our communications center. These
professionals take calls and dispatch units from the center 24 hours
a day, seven days a week throughout the service area. In addition to
the professional dispatchers, Life Line is one of the few ambulance
services that employs a full-time GIS Specialist.
All dispatch team members conduct daily self-audits and continuous
training, and the entire
department works closely with our billing, quality
assurance/improvement, field and mapping departments to ensure
everyone is working with the most complete information available.
Technology
Because Life Line Ambulance is a private company,
we can afford to make immediate investments to improve our service
capabilities, now and into the future. We are very careful to
utilize technologies that integrate well with our current systems
and build on each other. These technologies include our geographic
informational and automated vehicle location systems. All these
technologies, in combination with our professional team members,
help Life Line deliver exceptional customer service.
Geographic Informational
System (GIS)
Our geographic informational system (GIS) specialist works with
detailed mapping programs integrating information from various
sources and providing a comprehensive picture of the entire 9,000-square-mile service area,
including three counties. Our dispatch team
uses this information to get emergency crews to the scene as quickly
as possible. As Arizona continues to experience enormous growth, our
full-time specialist updates and uploads information to our dispatch
database on a continuous basis, working cooperatively with our crews
and with statewide, county, city, police and fire GIS departments to
ensure the latest updates and create physical map books crews carry
in each ambulance.
Just about every ambulance service utilizes a mapping program, but
it’s a rarity to employ a mapping specialist providing daily road
updates. Life Line Ambulance is constantly setting new benchmarks
for emergency services to serve our patients more quickly, more
effectively, more efficiently.
Automated Vehicle
Location (AVL) System
Currently, Life Line Ambulance is the only service in Arizona to
have an automated vehicle location (AVL) satellite/cellular system
in place. This means that through satellites and cellular services,
we are able to track every unit in our fleet every 15 seconds, no
matter where they are in our expansive service area. This precise
tracking allows us to dispatch the closest unit to the emergency
scene. Our AVL system is, of course, seamlessly integrated into our
GIS. Again, Life Line is leading the field with this type of
integration. The GIS tells us where you are, and the AVL
tells us where we are. These systems work in tandem to get
both of us together quickly. It’s why we’re here: to be there to
care.
