Vehicles
Life Line currently deploys and maintains 22 emergency vehicles,
including 21 ambulances and one critical care unit, which is staffed
by an advanced life support professional, an emergency medical
technician and a registered nurse and used as an alternative to air
transportation.
Computer technology
Life Line Ambulance is always one of the first ambulance services in
our area to implement cutting-edge technologies. We continually
update and upgrade our systems, including computer-aided dispatch,
automatic vehicle locator (AVL)
and global informational system (GIS).
All of these tools make it easier for us to find you more quickly in
your time of need.
Emergency Transportation
Life Line Ambulance is a partner in several
Arizona communities’ Emergency Medical Systems, activated by dialing
9-1-1. (Service Area map)
Thus, our primary focus is providing basic and advanced life support
services and transporting trauma and medical patients to area
hospitals. We’re there to care, whenever and wherever you need us.
Non-emergency Transportation
Our second area of focus is on transporting ill
and injured patients between hospitals and from hospitals to
specialized treatment centers, such as tumor, burn or neurological
facilities, both within and outside our service area.
Even though these are typically non-emergency
transports, the vehicles are still staffed by trained medical
providers, such as paramedics, emergency medical technicians and
registered nurses. We know that this is a very stressful time for
you or your loved ones. We do all we can to help you rest assured.
Critical Care Unit
Life
Line EMS, a division of Life Line Ambulance, has recently purchased
a Type III Modular ambulance, which is a larger vehicle than our
typical advanced life support vehicle. This Critical Care Unit (CCU)
is equipped with specialty machines and devices needed to transport
the critically ill or injured patient between facilities, either in
or outside our service area. The primary benefit to our
customers—patients and doctors—is that the Life Line CCU can serve
as a cost-effective alternative to air transport for non-emergency
critically ill or injured patients.
Staffing
Life Line EMS has hand selected and trained the specialty personnel
for staffing the CCU.
-
Advanced life support (ALS) providers: These
are intermediate emergency medical technicians (IEMT) and/or
paramedics. The CCU has space for two ALS providers. These
providers have a minimum training level of:
-
Cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
-
Advanced cardiac life support (ACLS).
-
Advanced critical care training on CCU
specialty equipment.
-
Emergency medical technician-Bacic (EMT-B): The
EMT-B can provide basic life support (BLS) services to the patient
en route.
-
Critical care registered nurse (CCU-RN): This
professional can provide nursing services, as well as ACLS and CCU
skills to the patient en route.
Equipment
The CCU has all the equipment of our typical ALS ambulance, such as
drug box, portable and on-board suction, EKG/defibrillator/external
pacing and 500-pound-rated stretcher, plus specialty equipment, such
as:
-
Impact 754-transport ventilator with AC-DC
rechargeable battery.
-
Fetal Doppler.
-
End tidal CO2 qualitative mainstream monitor.
-
Pressure infusers.
-
Two IVAC, three-chambered IV pumps.
-
Propaq monitor with pulse oximetry, ECG,
temperature, heart rate, NIBP, AIBP, trends, alarms and printer.
-
Communications:
-
UHF (EMSCOM) radio.
-
VHF radio capabilities.
-
Extra capacity on-board oxygen supply.
-
Additional space for equipment and inverter on
board to service it.
